Description
Terasit Lotus is a fabric treatment and fiber protection product that provides water-, oil-, and dirt-repellent properties. With this advanced treatment, textiles remain breathable, protected, and retain their appearance. In addition, Terasit Lotus is effective even at low condensation temperatures.
Application
The product may contain traces of perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) and is therefore regulated by (EU) 2024/2462. Use of the product is permitted only for the following textiles:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) intended to protect users from risks listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2016/425, Category III, letters a, c through f, h, and l.
- Textiles that fall within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices (MDR) as medical devices.
1. Dip-and-roll method
By default, application using the dip-and-roll method takes place in the final rinse bath once the liquid level has been reached and the drum begins to rotate.
Before impregnation, the cleaned textiles must be thoroughly rinsed to remove all detergent and alkali residues, as even small amounts of detergent can impair performance. The finishing bath should have a pH value of 5–6 may be required. This may necessitate the addition of acetic acid or formic acid. The required amount of Terasit Lotus is added to the finishing bath. The fabric is treated, briefly spun dry, and dried; for membrane textiles, spin-dry at several intervals.
The required quantities must be adjusted to the specific conditions. A finishing time of 15 minutes is recommended to achieve the maximum possible waterproofing effect.
Drying should be performed at full heating capacity.
To ensure the impregnation effect takes full effect, a drying temperature of 80 °C at the drum outlet is required for at least 7 minutes (observe care labels).
2. Machine Spraying Method
Terasit Lotus can also be applied using a spraying method.
