Impregnating agent
Description
Terasit AP is an air-permeable fabric impregnation that offers excellent abrasion resistance. Our product is free of organic halogen compounds, including fluorocarbon compounds (PFAS free), and is particularly suitable for tents, tarpaulins and heavy fabrics. Terasit AP can be used to effectively impregnate textiles while maintaining their breathability.
Application
Terasit AP should be applied in the dip-roller process as the last rinsing bath in a washer extractor. Terasit AP should only be added after the liquor level has been reached and the drum movement has started.Terasit AP is applied in a single bath. Before impregnation, the cleaned textiles must be thoroughly rinsed to remove all detergent and alkali residues, as even small amounts of surfactants or detergents can lead to a deterioration in the effect. It is advisable to add approx. 1 ml / l acetic acid 60% to the last rinsing bath to ensure that the goods no longer contain alkali. Terasit AP is diluted with 3 - 5 times its volume of water at 30 - 50 °C while stirring. High shear forces should be avoided, as the emulsion can be irreversibly damaged. This stock solution is then added to the treatment liquor while stirring. The treatment bath is adjusted with acetic or formic acid
to pH 4 - 5.
30 - 40 ml/l are required to impregnate garments. For materials that are difficult to wet, the liquor temperature can be increased to 50°C. The normal temperature is between 20 and 40 °C. The goods are treated in the impregnation bath for 20 - 30 min, briefly spun, dried (attention: observe care label!) and ironed as usual (iron approx. 150 °C). For large pieces of fabric (tent and carriage covers), the impregnation can be carried out by applying a 40 - 60 ml / l Terasit AP solution to the fabric using a spray gun, brush, sponge or roller. When working with standing baths, the initial concentration must be added when the liquor level is replenished (30 - 40 ml / l).
