Description
Terasit Lotus is a fabric treatment and fiber protection product that provides water-, oil-, and dirt-repellent properties. With this advanced treatment, textiles remain breathable, protected, and retain their appearance. In addition, Terasit Lotus is effective even at low condensation temperatures.
Application
The product may contain traces of perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) and is therefore regulated by (EU) 2024/2462.
Use of the product is permitted only for the following textiles:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) intended to protect users from risks listed in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2016/425, Category III, letters a, c through f, h, and l.
- Textiles that fall within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices (MDR) as medical devices.
- Textiles for military, emergency response, or law enforcement personnel,
- other workwear, protective clothing, and other textiles intended exclusively for occupational or industrial activities
1. Dip-and-roll process
By default, application using the dip-and-roll process takes place in the final rinse bath after the liquid level has been reached and drum rotation has begun.
Before impregnation, the cleaned textiles must be thoroughly rinsed to remove all detergent and alkali residues, as even small amounts of detergent can impair the effectiveness of the treatment. The finishing bath should have a pH value of 5–6. Adding acetic acid or formic acid may be necessary to achieve this. The required amount of Terasit Lotus is added to the finishing bath. The fabric is treated, briefly spun dry, and dried; for membrane textiles, spin at several intervals.
The required quantities must be adjusted to the specific conditions. A treatment time of 15 minutes is recommended to achieve the highest possible waterproofing effect.
Drying should be performed at full heating capacity. To ensure the impregnation effect takes full effect, a drying temperature of 80 °C at the drum outlet is required for at least 7 minutes (follow the care label instructions).
2. Machine Spraying Method
Terasit Lotus can also be applied using a spraying method.
Modern, professional washing machines can be equipped with a spraying device for finishing agents. In this case, it is possible to spray Terasit Lotus onto the washed, spin-dried goods in a cost-effective manner that minimizes wastewater.
After spraying, the items are tumbled for another 3–5 minutes.
Spray application outside the machine is not permitted.
Drying depends on the temperature tolerance of the treated items. These are dried in a tumble dryer or hung to dry at room temperature (such as leather items).
