Lizerna Protect Pro Equipment and Water-Repellent Treatments

Description

Lizerna Protect Pro is a finishing and waterproofing agent that can be used both for waterproofing breathable fabrics and for stabilizing the fibers. It is a key component of the BÜFA Care 4.0 wet cleaning process and helps protect the fibers during the drying process.

Application

Lizerna Protect Pro can be used both as a finishing agent and as an impregnating agent.


Impregnating Agent

1. Preparation of Textiles
• Textiles must always be rinsed to completely remove detergent and alkaline residues.
• Even small amounts of residue can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the impregnation.

2. Adjusting the finishing bath
• pH: 5–6
• If necessary, add acetic acid or formic acid to adjust the pH.
• Add Lizerna Protect Pro to the treatment bath.

3. Water-repellent treatment
• Treat the textiles in the final rinse bath once the bath level has been reached and the drum begins to rotate.
• Treatment duration: approx. 15 minutes (recommended for maximum impregnation effect).
• Heating the bath to 30°C improves the product’s ability to penetrate the fabric.

4. Post-treatment
• After impregnation, the fabric is briefly spun dry and then dried.
• For membrane textiles: Spin-drying in several intervals.

Depending on the fabric, Lizerna Protect Pro enables the finishing of textiles for PPE applications with limited protection against liquid acids and alkalis in accordance with EN 13034. Against 30% sulfuric acid and 10% caustic soda, the highest performance class 3 for penetration and repellency can be achieved. For treating untreated textiles, up to 50 ml/l of product is required, depending on the substrate. For pre-impregnated textiles, the application rate can be reduced. The required dosage should be determined through preliminary tests under the respective application conditions.

BÜFA Care 4.0

Lizerna Protect Pro is an essential finishing agent in the BÜFA Care 4.0 wet-cleaning process. The product is applied in the final rinse bath, where it is substantively absorbed by the fibers. As a result, it forms a protective film on delicate fabrics such as wool, silk, and viscose. This protection ensures that the fibers are gently treated during the subsequent drying process, preserving their structure, hand feel, and elasticity.
